PE DDs: When It's Not Always PositiveWhen DDs Go Awry
Daily Deviations, or “DDs,” are frequently held in very high esteem on deviantART. After all, what artist does not want his or her work displayed for more than 20 million viewers to see and admire? The benefits of receiving a DD feature include increased exposure for your work and a day in the spotlight for you as an artist. Many people therefore view DDs as badges of honor, awards that make them proud and validate the time they spend in our community.
Be careful what you wish for!
Don’t get us wrong-- DDs are wonderful for the purposes listed above. But, they can also bring a lot of drama upon the artist, especially if they are controversial.
Let’s talk about some of the sources of this drama.
The Critic
Some people feel that people who post art-- and especially those whose art is worthy of a Daily Deviation-- should have thick enough skin to accept criticism as well as praise. They argue that criticism is part
Traditional Tuesdays #52OMG OMFG OMFG! This is week fifty-two of this little article, and I can honestly say that I didn't think it would last this long. The night I started this feature, I was bored and just browsing around the Traditional Gallery. I was finding all kinds great artwork, that for one reason or another I couldn't/wouldn't give a DD. It could be because they had a DD recently, but mainly it was for a link to go back and see what they created next, and if they took it to the next level. Now it's more for artwork that I no longer have time to DD, I can't DD everything! I still find the article fun to do, and I'll keep doing it until it no longer is. So.... here is fifteen works of art that I thought you should see. I can't trust all of you all with anymore awesomeness, you might hurt yourself! Anyway, on with the show!

Not So Traditional Tuesdays #12This little feature is now into the double digits of editions .   This wasn't something I that had I planned on doing. Originally this  was just a one off article because I was bored one day, and started  typing in random search words. It is still fun to do though, so I think   it will keep going until it no longer is.
I like to think that  the things that make one piece of art great applies, for the most part,  to other genres. A painter can learn how light and shadow fall from  photography, photo-manipulators can learn about composition from a great  Manga drawing, and literature  can give you the inspiration to try  something new or take your work to  the next step. You may never try all  art forms you see! You can however take what you learn from them and  incorporate that into your own work. It could be the difference between  stagnating and that breakthrough every artist wants to find! Now on with

Amazing 2013 Feature [#1]Hello Everyone,
First off, I wanted to announce: On my profile there is now a commission widget that offers low-cost commissions for anyone interested. I will comment or critique deviations of your choice and then use the points to help with contests and other events. I am aware of the amount dA takes away and this is OK. 
Secondly, I am starting a new feature this year. Every day I have been making myself find 10 pieces of art I really like. Usually in the photography category, but I am not steadfast to that as a requirement. Each of these pieces I share on Tumblr as a way to gain them exposure as well as keep a log for myself. I am then going to take a few of those pieces every now and then and feature them here on deviantART.

My  name is Tanya, I'm an artist with a camera and I run on caffeine. My  inside leg measurement is over half my height, I have 15 piercings and I  was born on the Winter Solstice.

How did you find deviantART?
I don't entirely remember. It was a long time ago! I think I saw a link on another website.

What inspired your username?
I wish there was a deep and meaningful story here, but there isn't. I just liked how the two words looked and sounded together.

How does deviantART stand out for you?
It  really is unique in terms of art websites. I love that artists of all  skill levels are welcome here and I've never found a community like this  anywhere e
