People with screens 15,6inch or less -opinions plz

Journal Entry: Tue Jan 29, 2013, 8:10 AM
As some of you probably remember I am having troubles with my current computer and have been keeping an eye out for new laptops. Now I have seen one a while ago that seemed pretty okay but it had a bit less power than I would like, so I kept looking and stumbled across one that had exactly the power I want but the screen is only 15,6". I think for gaming that should be alright but what I am wondering is if it won't be uncomfortable for drawing...
Do any of you HAVE a screen that size (or smaller) and can tell me what it's like to draw like that? Does it bother you or is it not that bad? Thing is that I like to have some references open next to PSE so I'm a bit afraid this will take up too much space on a small screen...I'd really appreciate it if anyone who has experiences with that could share them with me.

My Desktop computers always had horrid monitors that weren't very big and were blurry, so getting a HD laptop was a massive leap for me. My first laptop was 15.6 and my new one is 16 and I personally don't have a lot of trouble with this size. I would one day though like to hook up extra screens so that I can have references on one side and photoshop on the other, if that's what you mean.

Oh well having a whole extra screen just for references would be awesome but I just meant having them on the side on the same screen. :D

ahh right. I don't have a lot of problems holding two canvas side by side, but then I am an artist who prefers the Smalle Intuos, which a lot of people don't, so my opinion is probably on of the minority.

I think right now the canvas covers about 2/3 of my screen and the refs 1/3 and it works pretty fine. :3

How big is that Intuos? :)

it's about A5 size, the actual usable surface is slightly smaller, but I don't think I need that much space to do the work I want. I've had a bigger tablet before and to be honest don't notice the difference. What tablet do you use?

Ah okay, well I have an A4 sized Bamboo right now and I'm perfectly happy with it but before that I had a really cheap A5 one too (it was kinda crappy but mainly because the material was super rough and killed the pen within two weeks xD) and for a little while I also tried out my brother-in-laws A6 Wacom (some really old model, can't remember the name) and it wasn't even that bad so I think I could even live with something smaller.
I do think though that in particular for sceneries A4 is very nice since it gives you the option to make nicely long swerving motions which I do need quite a lot for those kinds of works.
/rambles xD

Mine is 19" and I feel that it's small. One of my friends (~Catmagik) used to have a really tiny screen, which she used for gaming. I'd imagine it was probably 15-16", but possibly less. I felt it was okay for gaming, but a massive hassle for browsing the web. So I'd probably not recommended it personally. :XD:

So how do you carry that monster around? Mine only has 13,3" an it's perfect for gaming. It's true though that i don't draw on it.

Oh then it seems more normal, but still, pretty big for me. Well, you boys and your choice of sizes :la:
