How did you get into iconing?
Before I joined dA I already had some experience with pixelling (I used to make adoptables), I’m not entirely sure why I chose to channel that hobby towards icons but I think it had a lot to do with wanting to break into the community, put out there what I had to offer that others could not only see but also use for themselves, thus creating a relationshi

Icons for a Good Cause - CLOSEDUpdate 04-01-2013: Project will be on hold and not accepting any more requests. I will clear the waiting list and then close the project for good.
Update of the Update: Well dang, people, the interest is so high that I'll open a few more slots, it's for a good cause after all. xD That means that there's a chance you'll have to wait a bit longer though since I'll have more to work through.
Update 02-27-2013: The project is open again and I will be taking orders for five more slots before closing for good. That means this is not only your last chance to participate in the project but also your last chance to get one of the chibis in my old style. As always, comment on the journal if you would like to commission an icon in order to help out; in depth guidelines below.
Update 12-25-2012: The project will be on hold for a little while so I can clear off the list and also get all the other stuff done that I

Gallery Makeover: Icons and Handhelds We're slowly nearing the end of this first phase of the Gallery Restructure Project which means if you would still like to give us any kind of feedback related to the Icons & Handhelds gallery structure, now's the time to do so!
Please also scroll down and see which points have been brought up by the community and feel free to tell us what you think about them.
As recently announced by Moonbeam13 in this article deviantART will soon be undergoing a rather extensive makeover of the gallery system in order to streamline categories and simplify submissions. That will amongst others include the removal of dead categories, merging where it makes sense or simply a complete restructuring of a whole root category if necessary.
Community input is highly important for this so with this journal you have the opportunity to specifically give feedback concerning the Icons

Iconic Iconists #3 - RaindropmemoryWelcome to the third issue of Iconic Iconists, the interview series that introduces to you outstanding members of the Icons & Handhelds gallery. In this issue you have the chance to get to know Raindropmemory, an iconist from Thailand, a little better.
Tell us a little bit about yourself!
I am an illustrator and graphic designer from Bangkok, Thailand. I like books, plants, sunlight & shadow, the windy weather before the storm. Meringue is my favourite dessert...well, I think you don't really want to know.
How did you get into iconing?
I have a habit of tinkering with my computer for a long time. Some time around 2008 I found that I can customize my computer, with icon sets! After searching the internet here and there I found communities of people who love customization, for example deviantART, customize.org and iconfactory.com. I still remember at that time, that the unique design of icon sets of D
Flove Contest + 9 Entries + Prizes + CLOSEDTHIS CONTEST IS CLOSED. JUDGING WILL COMMENCE SHORTLY.
Of the Emote Variety...
That's right, I'm holding an Emote contest! The theme is gonna be super-lame, though:
CREATE WHAT YOU THINK FLOVE SHOULD LOOK LIKE!
Keep in mind, Flove = Fucking + Love. Examples:
I fucking love this book, it's so good!
I flove this book, it's so good!
You're freaking hilarious, I fucking love you, bro.
You're freaking hilarious, I flove you, bro.
Why is "Flove" so handy?
You can use "flove" in any situation, at any time, anywhere. Wanna get away with swearing at school when you REALLY love something? "I FLOVE IT, MAN!" No one can yell at you because you're not ACTUALLY using the swear, but it's most definitely implied. (Yes, I know, lame example/reasoning is lame. :

Corrie Nielsen InterviewFascinated by form and design from young age as the daughter of a prominent American sculptor, London Fashion Week designer Corrie Nielsen obtained a First Class BA Honours degree in Fashion Design Womenswear from the world’s most famous fashion and art institute, Central Saint Martins. She worked in bespoke tailoring followed by a six- year stint at Vivienne Westwood before launching her eponymous label.
Corrie’s impressive background includes being chosen by John Galliano as the winner of the prestigious Fashion Fringe 2010 competition, establishing herself as the emerging designer to watch out for. Drawing inspiration from historical periods and combining her fascination of architectural forms and designs, she is lauded by the fashion press as a modern couturier with a truly unique aesthetic vision.
Corrie was kind enough to offer us a few minutes of her precious time in the run up to London Fashion Week (14th - 18th of Septe

As part of Emote Appreciation day, I'm holding interviews with some of the members of our community. The third interview is with...

When did you start emoting? Do you think you've improved a lot since then?
My first emote was posted on my dA on March 1st, 2012. I think I’ve improved with pixelling in general, so it has made my emotes more visually appealing, but I want to keep going to do my best! It’s been a short time since I started to make emotes so I have a long way to go ^^.
What do you think of the emoticon community as a whole?
I feel that everybody is really welcoming and nice. I know it wasn’t hard for me (at all) to make and find new people to talk with! I love interacting with other emoticonists and participating in the contests that are in place. It’s a great way to get ins
