Death by Abomination Barf

Journal Entry: Sun Jan 12, 2014, 6:05 AM
Maybe a bit late but I figured there's a few small things I'd like to do this year that could count as resolutions. They might all seem like useless unimportant stuff but the things that really pertain to 'improving my life' shouldn't be resolutions but self-evident goals anyway.

1. Finish The Wheel of Time.

I mean seriously, I've got like four and a half books left and I could have been done ages ago. So pull yourself together and read. :stare:

2. Play more Oblivion.
As much as I dislike the game for several reasons, I still think it's a great game and I'd like to finally get more into it than maybe just 30 or 40h of gaming time. Particularly on my new (well by now not so new anymore) laptop where I can actually enjoy full graphic settings it should be awesome. :B

3. Finish Darksiders II in Nightmare Mode.

Yep, you might know I've started that mode a while ago but then the City of the Dead....kinda did its name justice. :paranoid: Darn Abominations. Anyway, I've already restarted and am resolved to get through this time.

4. Complete AT LEAST one proper piece of art per month.
That should easily be doable. Last year it was five minutes of drawing each day but I think it makes more sense to do it like this.

5. Play more games with my hubby.

Because Super Mario 3D World and currently Rayman Legends reminded me how much fun it is to game with him and we just don't do it enough.

Did you guys make any resolutions? I'd love to hear. :B

Nice resolutions, I might copy you on Darksiders, been meaning to replay it and that sounds like a challenge...
And on another note, bit of advice you can ignore if wanted. If you want a game to play with your husband, I'd actually reccomend Minecraft. For one, it's a brilliant game to play with others, and secondly the creative arty side I think would really suit you, and it's something that doesn't get old, as you can keep changing, building new designs, adventuring, farming, its peaceful and yet exciting. If you do do that though, two things: Don't get the console version, and set yourself a project or goal to start off with, like recreating the City of the Dead, or Windhelm etc. You'll find yourself lost for hours, gathering all the materials, and planning the design. It takes a long time, but the effort is worth it for the sense of achievement.

That does sounds nice but while we have two laptops we can only use one of them for gaming. The other one has...issues. xD
So any kind of PC multiplayer doesn't work. :/

You'd be surprised, MC runs on pretty much any PC, the settings and textures are adjustable

That's not the issue. My fiancé's laptop is pretty strong, it's just rather old and has all kinds of problems, such as automatically shutting itself off after 5-10 minutes of gaming. No matter what game. Trust me, we've tried to fix it but no luck.

MC is an .exe that runs off Java, its not like most. Try the classic version for free on the website, it uses the base programming.

I'll try it once we're through Rayman Legends and New Super Mario Bros U. x)

My resolutions are:
- to make more art, painting or drawing or whatever
-to spend more time with my friends (I've been back in Chicago for 3+ mos now and I've hardly seen any of them)
-and towards that end, I want to get back into WMA. The group I trained with has their own place now.
- to try and get my gpa up past 3.6. I know that doesn't actually matter, but I'm curious to see if I can.
- to get my sleep cycle back towards normal. I'm staying up way too late and then sleeping until noon or later. bleh!
I should probably have more, but thats my list for now.

Right? ^^
While I've managed to also read during the day lately, I've made it a habit to read at least a few pages in bed before going to sleep. Even when I'm very tired...a couple pages I can always manage. ^^

1- About the reading part ... XD I bought 5 books of The Spook series around 4 years ago, and I've only read 3 of them so far xD And I still have some more books of The Spook to buy, so the road before me is still a long one before I know how it ends lmao! So last week, I decided it was about time to get into it. Yesterday I already started 'The Spook's Secret' (the third of the series). Not bad, heh? xD If you don't know The Spook, you should read it at some point :) I think I love John Gregory X'D

2- DRAW MORE. I've been shamefully inactive artwise for way too long. Once I'm done with my hubby's commissions, I start being a lot more active on deviantART for sure!

3- Working on my cupcakes-coffee Café project. I'd just love to be my own boss and making employees cook yummy cupcakes, croissants and chocolatines for people. Gathering peeps around here in a warm and welcoming place to sip a cup of coffee and just cooling off from a long day at work. We don't have that kind of place around here :)

I think that's about it. :)

I'll keep that series in mind. ^^

Looking forward to seeing more art from you. :3 I miss your chibis. ;w;

That sounds like such an awesome place! I really hope you'll succeed! I'll cross all my fingers and toes. xD
And once it's done...Imma come visit you and you gotta serve me cupcakes. x)

Well, I'm almost done with my man's drawings xD I'll definitely have to draw chibis when I'm done! I can't let his commishes aside and work on chibis unfortunately, since he had to give me a deadline :dead: I hate those.

You sure have to! I spoke with my two partners in crime yesterday, and here's what we came with: Cupcakes, coffee, tea, wi-fi and laptops for rent with comfy chairs and couches during the day. Coffee, alcohol and metal shows during the night :la: Isn't it cool!?

Read #1. Connected with that on a spiritual level. I also should have done it ages ago, especially with the last book being in print now. I have no excuse. *hangs head in shame*
And #4. T_T [But I have a scanner on the way so that should help motivate me more :XD:]

My boyfriend is waiting till he gets the final book before he starts reading it all over again. He has numbers 1 till 13 and two extra books on a shelf some friends made for him here right over the computer. He already started reading the series three times but now he wants to read them all one after another when he gets/buys the final book.

After I'd let it lie for about two years somewhere in the middle of volume 6 I also decided to re-read everything but so far, in my second 'read-through', I've managed to not let too much time pass so I really just gotta pull myself together and read bigger passages always. Well I've made a good start with 2+ chapters in one day. ^^
I still need the last two volumes though. Been holding out on the last one at first because I wanted the Thor paper back edition and at first you only got the hard cover one. By now it's been available for a long time, I just kep forgetting. x'D

That sounds good indeed. Yeah he has been waiting till he could get the right edition as well. When you have such a big series of books it looks best if they are all similar. He has another series almost complete (the Orion edition, they are all black with different coloured headers, etc.) He only has the Thor edition for New spring. He says he does like the artwork for the Thor edition.

And yeah, sometimes things like that just keep slipping your mind :P

Ditto, I think that edition just look so nicely colourful and I like the slightly 3Dish print on the covers. :3
But yeah, even when something has only three books I prefer having them all in the same edition. I'm a total book freak and like to have my bookshelves look as neat as possible. xD Which is currently, considering our lack of space, kinda impossible haha. I've got horizontal stacks of book on the normal rows in all kinds of places. OTL

Yeah I would if I could as well but my book case is a mess at the moment as well XD the worst one is my Artemis Fowl series.. it went to another publisher and they keep making different looking editions.. I think I hardly have two that look alike and I have 7 at the moment.. it is bad really XD
