Coup de Coeur

Journal Entry: Thu Jan 31, 2013, 11:31 AM
Before I get to share with you the awesomeness that was this day I shall very shamelessly promote my Icon Commissions since I could REALLY use some extra cash over the next couple months. ;w; You'll find out why if you continue reading. ^^

So the plan for today was going to a nearby shopping center with my hubby *ripley4O77 to see if I might still get lucky and find a laptop that didn't have me sacrificing either power or screen size.
About an hour before we left the doorbell rings and what did the lovely mailwoman bring me? After a whole month of waiting I finally received my two Darksiders artbooks and the novel. You can sneak a peek here:

Gosh the artbooks are beyond amazing, they are so incredibly fat, filled to the last page with fantastic sketches and artworks and they smell delicious. Yes, I sniff books. :stare:

After a very quick browsing session we left for the shopping center though which was quite the disappointment when it comes to laptops. My hubby found out that there's a store over there that sells the Mini Skylanders though if you buy a Giant. So eventually we'll see that we can get Whisper Elf and Trigger Snappy. :B
Since it was still early we decided to go to another shopping center, a bit further away. I found this gorgeously comfy pair of Adidas track pants there on sale which means I have no excuse anymore now and will as soon as possible start going for regular running sessions through the awesome nearby park. Root for Vala, because she's a horrible lazy ass! >_>
After regaining some strength with some delicious subways (best fast food ever!) we went to another hardware/electronics store and lo and behold, I actually stumbled across a laptop that has everything I want and doesn't cost the world. ;w;
It's a tiny bit above our presumed budget (which is the reason why money will be way too tight over the next couple months and Vala will be feeling super guilty even though her hubby will keep telling her not to) but oh my gosh, it was definitely love at first sight. :giggle:
So by this time tomorrow I shall be the proud mommy of a beautiful Asus notebook with quadcore, a Geforce GT 635M and a more than reasonable screensize of 17,3". Which I can totally live with. :la:
Expect not to see a lot of me over the next couple of weeks since I will be taking a looooong awaited vacation in the north of Tamriel.

And WHAT is wrong with sniffing books?
...wow. That is a ton of Darksiders stuff. I didn't even know they made all that.

Subway is the food of God.

Nice! That sounds like a fantastic computer. I also admire your continual referring to yourself in the third person.

If you're still on vacation, I hope it's going awesome!

A lot of people seem to think it's weird, my other half included. XD

I'm glad they did make that much of such a short series. :giggle: Still crossing my fingers that Vigil Games can be revived and they will continue it.

It IS! :B

Hahaha yeah I do that when I feel like being stupid. xD That's why I had to clear that up in the description of my latest work . ^^

Oh I'm still having lots of fun in Skyrim, that's for sure. ^^

Yes. There must be 2 more! One cannot have a game series about the four horsemen of the apocalypse and only have 2 games! Well, I read that most of the staff from Vigil is now working for Crytek USA, so maybe the Darksiders games can continue under a different studio. I'm not exactly sure who owns the rights to Darksiders now, since THQ went defunct too.

...you know, when I first commented, I thought Tamriel was an actual place. And then I realized it was from Elder Scrolls.
:iconheaddeskplz::iconfacepalmplz: ...my GOD, I'm stupid. I really need to brush up on my video game mythology.

Indeed, indeed, that'd be such a shame!
Yeah, last time I head something a lot of people went to Crytek but Vigil Games in general was not sold, they were still looking though. So I dunno...it's really wait and see. :hmm:

Hahaha oh my. I WISH Tamriel were a real place. :XD: Even though I doubt I'd survive there for long. xD

Oh, I didn't know that. Hmmm. But if the series is still owned by Vigil, it might cause problems if the series was handed over to a different group of people, though. Let's not forget what happened to Rare when they were sold to Microsoft... :fear:

yeah...Um, just so I'm totally clear on this, I know you've done paintings of areas in Tamriel before, but I forgot what you said those areas were called. I thought Tamriel was the NAME of a real place; I didn't think your paintings of Tamriel were supposed to represent real places. I promise I'm not THAT stupid.

Yeah, as much as everyone wants to live in video game worlds, when you really stop and think about it, I don't think any of us could live there for more than a week. xD Except maybe whatever place Kirby lives.

Fff don't even mention Rare splitting up with Nintendo. >.<

Hahaha oh gosh don't worry, I know THAT. You'd have to be VERY confused not to realize that. :giggle:

Right? xD Most video game worlds I'd love to live in are not that safe and easy to survive in on second thought. :XD:
Kirby's universe might be an exception indeed and places like Animal Crossing as well maybe. ^^

Oh, sorry. It's been more than 10 years and I'm STILL pissed about it.

Ok. Just so we're clear on that. :XD:

Yeah, all the ones that would be safe are too adorable to want to live in.

Who doesn't smell new books? XD Anyway, that's pretty cool, I didn't know there were Darksiders novels. ^^ Those art books should be interesting to skim over too, is it mostly concept sketches for the games? And Subway sandwiches are indeed the best, I'd order them over a hamburger any day. :iconchocoloveplz:

Also, that's pretty exciting, even if it was a bit over budget. XD (Although sometimes you can't really settle for less, especially with something as important as a PC.) I'm sure you can't wait to enjoy the perks of a new upgrade, and not just for art either. :3 Have fun settling onto your new machine when you get it, and watch out for dem dragons, they love to toast people. > : D

My fiancé always looks at me as if I'm crazy when I do it haha. xD
There's mostly lots of concept sketches in there yeah, it's pretty cool to see all the different design attempts for some of the enemies, sceneries etc. ^^

Right? 8D I totally can't eat MacDonalds anymore ever since I had some potato wedges that literally tasted like crap (there's something you'll remember next time you're there xDD) but Subways? Oh my gosh, so delicious. :3

Agreed, in particular since if I'd buy a weaker one now I'd have to buy another new one sooner than with this one so it's not that bad in the end. ^^
Oh they already singed my butt haha. xD
