It must be like an unwritten rule or something that the works I push back the longest turn out the best.
So. The long long ago agreed to art trade with the wonderful *Corealis. Or rather another one. We've done at least two already. ^^ She requested the pokémon Sawk this time; something I wasn't familiar with at all before. Not pokémon in general, just this particular one. While I knew I wanted him in meditation right from the beginning, the final pose and composition were inspired by this work. I have no idea who the original artist is but I'd like to credit them anonymously anyway for providing me with such a wonderful reference.
This work most definitely showed me again that line-less shading is SO much more appropriate for me and also gave me a whole bunch of extra confidence for a collab I am currently working on which will include line-lessly shaded human characters.
I've definitely learned a lot while doing this and it was a hell of a lot of fun.
And a kudos goes out to *ripley4O77 for coming up with the lovely title.
